Johar Baru SDA Cleans Up Channel on Jalan Galur Jaya

Johar Baru Water Resources (SDA) Unit, Central Jakarta cleans up channel on Jalan Galur Jaya RW 04, Galur Urban Village. SDA personnel were seen dredging garbage and mud sedimentation from the channel on Saturday (10/30).

In order to prevent inundation, residents must pay attention to cleanliness of their environment

Johar Baru Sub-district SDA Unit Head, Rud y Prasetya mentioned, channel was dredged to anticipate inundation, especially during heavy rain. It is carried out along Jalan Galur Jaya to Jalan Galur Selatan with length of 189 meters.

"This dredging work has been requested by local urban village. Previously, channel was clogged with garbage and mud sedimentation with thickness of 0.4 meter thus it didn't function optimally," he said.

SDA Dredges Bisma Raya Connecting Channel

According to him, this dredging work has been carried out since October 25, 2021. The channel has width about 0.6 meters with height 0.7 meters. Personnel cleans up the channel manually using hoes, plastic bags, crow bars, buckets, breakers and generator set.

"So far, we have dredged 25 cubic meters mud from the channel. Later, we will dispose the mud to Ancol, North Jakarta. This dredging work is targeted to be completed next week," he conveyed.

Galur Urban Village Head, Atik Kusmiati mentioned, channel had to be dredged because it was already rainy season. She also reminded residents and traders in Lokbin Abdul Gani/Gembrong Market or around the location to maintain cleanliness of the channel by not littering.

"In order to prevent inundation, residents must pay attention to cleanliness of their environment. Especially in rainy season," she asserted.
